The only A-grade quad exercise in the database. Engages three lever systems simultaneously (hip, knee, ankle). The 5:1 quad ratio means 100 kg on the bar creates 6,000–8,000 N per leg at parallel depth. Breathing technique manages intra-abdominal pressure.
5:1 quadriceps lever ratio — the distance from knee joint to quad insertion is roughly one-fifth the distance from knee to foot contact, creating enormous internal tension.
Three-joint compound — hip extensors, knee extensors, and ankle plantar flexors all contribute, scoring 13/15 on muscle breadth.
Progressive overload 15/15 — barbell allows micro-loading for long-term progression.
Placed first because the heaviest compound demands maximal neural drive and fresh legs.
