Why this exercise
Close stance shifts tension to the vastus lateralis (outer quad sweep). Machine-based for joint safety — no axial spinal loading. Starting with machine work on Legs B preserves the spine after heavy squats on Legs A two days prior.
Close stance = vastus lateralis — narrower foot position shifts the force line to preferentially load the outer quad sweep.
